Description: ARCHITECTURE & SOCIETY I: EUROPEAN ARCHITECTURE & ARCHITECTURAL THEORY ***** This seminar examines European architecture and architectural theory from Alberti to Semper. Through the detailed consideration of a number of key buildings and theoretical texts, it investigates relationships between theory, design, and themes such as origins, orders, proportion, structure, sensation, character, type, style, and surface. ***** Also offered as ARCH 685.
