Description: CHRISTIANS AND JEWS IN THE MEDIEVAL ISLAMIC WORLD ***** Examination of Christian and Jewish communities in the Islamic world from the rise of Islam to the Ottoman Empire. Topics include the "dhimmis" (protected peoples); social and economic life; communal organization; and interplay of religious laws and political authority.
