Description: THE WORLD AND THE WEST ***** Introduction to the last 500 years of world history, focusing on processes that define the modern period. Topics include industrialization, democratization, colonialism, and emergence of new forms of cultural production with exploration of how and why such processes have come to divide the modern world into "west" and a "non-west".
