Description: FRESHMAN SEMINAR: ROPE AND FAGGOT - TERROR AND AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY FROM THE HAMBURG MASSACRE TO THE MURDER OF JAMES BYRD ***** From the 1880s to 1968, lynch mobs murdered nearly 5,000 African-Americans. Terror and black responses to it have shaped nearly every aspect of African American history.
