This course examines popular and folk traditions of the United States from the early 18th century to the present. We will cover a broad range of periods and styles, including New England psalmody, Anglo-American balladry, minstrelsy, Ragtime, Jazz, Tin Pan Alley, and early Rock 'n' Roll.
